Half of my class is heading to middle school next year. It seems like the end of an era, and I wanted to make sure I made the end of school super special for them. I also wanted to keep my class busy because downtime just makes it harder for us.
I knew a lot of the staff wanted to spend some time with my students and it was a little chaotic planning how to orchestra it all. I finally decided to plan eight mini parties, one per day. We made a flyer to invite all of the special people in our class. See below to see what we are doing each day, with links to products on TPT included!
Day 8
We are using my Bug Weekly Pack to round out the last eight days of school. On Day 8, we will complete the Bug Math Activities and the hands-on activities like File Folders and Task Cards. We are going to be working on our survey project (look for that to be uploaded to my TPT store soon!). We will be doing a treat cart run (read more about my treat cart here) to rid our inventory. We will spend some time doing the leftover work from our Trofast bins (read more about that here) and end the day with sensory balloons. We will use the sensory ballon visual directions from Mrs. D’s Corner.
Day 7
We are having a fun camping themed day. The camping and smores sequencing activities from 3 Dinosaurs ties in perfectly. We will also read the social story and make the cold smores snack from Simply Special Ed’s The Last 10 days. We will also complete the campfire craft from Teaching Special Thinker’s June Easy Art pack. We will be using a recycling activity from Mrs. D’s Corner and continuing our survey project. We will also read the Bugs Adapted Book from the weekly pack and use the receptive language task. Another treat cart run is scheduled as well.
Day 6
We will read the Bugs Easy Readers and complete the comprehension worksheets today. We will also do the bug ELA worksheets and play Bug Bingo. We will make the dirt pudding snack from the weekly pack. We will also do a butterfly emergent reader and worksheet set from Crystal McGinnis. Can you tell this is our big bug themed day? We had money left over in the treat cart budget, so we will assemble gifts for the treat cart participants. The gifts include luau cups, luau temporary tattoos, a bamboo straw, a shark-shaped lollipop (our mascot) as well as Crystal Light packets and packets of gum.
Day 5
There will be extra time to finish any of the ELA worksheets not completed on Day 6. We will also work on more leftover work from the Trofast system. We will explore the beach today. We will read the Beach social story and make the Beach Sensory Bag from Simply Special Ed’s The Last 10 days. We will also read the Strawberry Poem from my poem pack and enjoy some fresh strawberries. Another run of the treat cart is scheduled as well.
Day 4
We will complete other bug worksheets from the weekly pack this morning. We will read the Ice Cream Stand social story from Simply Special Ed’s The Last 10 days and the Ice Cream craft from Teaching Special Thinker’s June Easy Art pack. We have more time to complete work from the Trofast system and an additional run of the treat cart. We will squeeze in the Ice Cream Poem from my poem pack. We will be ending the day with an ice cream party. The supports from Especially Education will help tie the activity together!
Day 3
Simply Special Ed has the perfect father’s day gift BBQ rub freebie in her store. This will be a great activity with my class! We will also complete the popsicle craft from Teaching Special Thinker’s June Easy Art pack. The Playground social story and sand foam sensory play from Simply Special Ed’s The Last 10 days are great additions. I also have (hopefully the last) treat cart run. We will also start delivering gifts for treat cart participants.
Day 2
We will kick the morning off with the Summer Math worksheets from My Special Learner’s ESY Summer Bundle. We will also do the Hot Air Balloon craft from Teaching Special Thinker’s June Easy Art pack. We will read the Zoo social story and make the zoo trial mix from Simply Special Ed’s The Last 10 days. We will also start working on our memory book from School Bells N Whistles and finish delivering gifts for treat cart participants.
Day 1
The last day! We will do the flubber recipe from Breezy Special Ed’s sensory activities and read the Last Day of School social story from Simply Special Ed’s The Last 10 days. We will finish our memory book from School Bells N Whistles and any other leftover work from the week. We will end the day with a showing of Moana and a snack. My activity pack for Moana will be uploaded to my store soon.
I will come back and update this blog with real photos after the end of school! I hope this gives you some ideas on how to finish your school year smoothly!
