If you are not sure what Adapted Thematic Packs are, read this blog post.
The third category of Adapted Thematic Packs is the language arts section. I use these items to guide my language arts/writing lessons. You can access a sample calendar that includes a monthly reading plan in this free download on TpT.
There are 3 types of writing activities included. The adapted journal comes with picture supports to complete the graphic organizer, as well as tracing supports and cut and paste supports for writing the paragraph. This makes it ideal for nonwriters. The writing journal has 3 levels (copy sentences, using keywords and using a topic statement) and the mini research project allows students to get in-depth with one of the vocabulary words.
There are 3 levels of spelling: tracing the words, using the word bank and spelling from memory.
There are 3 levels of beginning and ending sounds: tracing the sound, selecting the correct sound from a field of 3 and writing the sound in.
There are 3 levels of capitalization and punctuation: tracing the correct letter /symbol, filling in the correct letter/symbol and re-writing the sentence to include the correct letter/symbol.
There are 2 levels of poems. Both levels have the same 5 activities (finding the main topic picture, a puzzle, a sort, a sentence and color page, and a comprehension quiz) with level B providing more of a challenge.
The last activity is the nonfiction comparison. 2 items are featured in each set. Level A has picture supports in the article, has students trace keywords in the writing section and has student color code facts. Level B has students select the correct keyword from a field of 2 and cut and sort the facts. Level C has an open-ended comprehension question, has students write in the keywords and has students generate 3 facts about each topic.
