Many of us are currently quarantined due to coronavirus. Spending extended time at home might sound like a dream until it actually happens. I haven’t even completely stopped going to work and I am already getting stir crazy. I want to turn things around so I came up with 5 tips (with help from my friend Heather!)
Freshen Up
This is the most important step for me. Personally, I have to get fully ready to feel like myself. That means a shower, real clothes, make-up, the whole ten yards. If I stay in my pajamas with a messy bun and glasses I always get sadder and feel worse. It’s a tiny step that makes a huge difference.
Now I know not everyone likes this step but just try this-change out of your pajamas to a fresh pair of lounge clothes and take regular showers. You can be comfy while still being clean and I truly think this helps with mental health and stability!
Stick to a Routine
I’m sure you have heard this one but it is super important. The more you can stick to a routine, the more normalcy you can bring to your life. If you normally go to a gym, work out at home. Keep cooking meals. Time block your days. Decide when you will eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Plan 2-3 meaningful tasks between breakfast and lunch, 2-3 more between lunch and dinner and relaxing activities after dinner.
Even if you list is: Eat breakfast, clean kitchen, read a book, play with the dog, eat lunch, bake brownies, do a puzzle, workout, eat dinner, watch TV and take a bath, it’s still a plan to follow. Need inspiration for your list? See tips 4 and 5.
Reach Out to People
Shout out to my friend Kim on this one. She posted an Instagram story saying she had a virtual wine date with a friend. They both poured a glass of wine, got on facetime and chatted for an hour. I LOVED this idea. Schedule facetime/phone dates with everyone! Siblings, friends, coworkers-whoever you miss!
You can also try writing letters or emails and sending them. Send silly snap chats or try and learn TikTok dances together. Schedule a virtual Netflix party or play Mariokart with friends using a Nintendo Switch. With today’s technology, the options are endless!

Now more than ever, we need to do self-care. This is a stressful time for all of us and it will be super easy to fall into a slump. Need inspiration for self-care-the download below has a self-care bingo board with 30 different things to try!
Spring-Clean
